The NCSU Agricultural Institute “Soldier to Agriculture” program is a 6 week intensive introduction to agriculture for transitioning service members, veterans and spouses interested in a career in agriculture in North Carolina. The program currently serves approximately 75 students per year with a waiting list of over 500 prospective students. Since becoming part of the DOD bridge program, soldiers from all NC bases now have access to the program. With this bigger audience we intend to recruit more students to become small farmers or employees in the 33 counties designated in the NC Sentinel Landscape Program.
