The NC Foundation for Soil and Water Conservation, in partnership with the NC Association of Soil and Water Conservation Districts, will deliver the Conservation Leadership Development Program, with the goal of growing the pool of citizens effectively and strategically addressing natural resource management through locally led conservation efforts. Project partners will offer two years of regional trainings and an intensive year-long development program based on emerging issues as identified in “Visioning the Future of Conservation Delivery”, an on-going strategic planning process of the conservation partnership. An estimated 2,480 unique training hours will be offered, benefiting 680 local soil and water conservation district partners, and leveraging $100,000+ in outside resources. Project results include a strong base of conservation leaders that rise to address the natural resource, agriculture and forestry productions challenges and landscape resiliency due to a growing population and the need to increase production on less available land.
