Project SkillUp

Project SkillUp: Worker Retraining Program is an NC Community College System workforce development initiative to grow short-term training programs aligned to local workforce needs that create educational opportunities assisting farmers and agribusinesses with transitions in the state’s tobacco-related agricultural economy that support business sustainability and community vitality. Using a call for proposals, NCCCS will work with local NC community colleges to support the startup or expansion of education and skills training programs addressing shifts in the tobacco-related segment of the state’s agricultural economy to alleviate and avoid unemployment, increase local tax bases, and encourage economic stability of participants.
