NC Real Time Network Update

Year Funded

2017

Amount

$220,000

The North Carolina Geodetic Survey operates a network of Continuous Operating Reference Stations (CORS) that correct, in real time, signal disturbances from Global Positioning System (GPS) satellites. When GPS is used for precision agriculture, surveying, engineering, grading, navigation and other high precision mapping uses, the CORS system must be used to improve the accuracy. This grant will be used to upgrade the GPS/Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) receivers at CORS located in tobacco producing counties. The upgrade is to ensure that agriculture users have access to the latest technology and can utilize signals from all available navigation satellites.
