Greenhouse Supporting Local Agricultural Industry

Year Funded

2022

Amount

$374,500

Southeastern Community College will design and erect an educational greenhouse on its campus to facilitate the exploration and acquisition of science-based agricultural skills and practices through hands-on classroom instruction. The greenhouse will be designed based on input from employers in the local agricultural industry to ensure their workforce needs are met. Skills developed and experience gained in the greenhouse will lead directly to stackable credentials in agriculture and horticulture, allowing graduates to enter the local workforce quickly. Having a head start on credentials, skills, and experience, will allow these students to support, and one day lead, the Columbus County or even the SE NC agricultural industry.
